While we do have body conditioning practices like stretching and warm-ups, we like to concentrate on the martial arts side of training at the dojo. Being fit and flexible certainly helps to make training easier but fitness is not taught at the club, per se. It becomes a natural side-effect of dedicated training.

The movement used in the Bujinkan relies on the body's natural muscular/skeletal system rather than strength or stamina. This is very important when dealing with people who are stronger than you.

By studying the martial arts, one gains an active appreciation for overall well-being. This tends to lead to healthier choices in life. You learn about the body's health through physical and mental training, seeking to enhance it.

Walking and a balanced diet are seen as two of the main forces for good health in the Bujinkan system. I also recommend yoga, swimming and other well-regarded fitness regimes.
